Doris Elizabeth (Greene) Moss, 84, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Saturday January 14, 2023. Doris worked in retail sales at Belk’s in South Park for many years. She loved people. She was a devoted Christian. She attended Parkwood Baptist Church faithfully. She was also devoted to her daily quiet time. She read her Bible and devotions regularly. She was a nurturing spirit. She was a proper Southern lady and she was wise and fashionable. Doris always looked beautiful. She never missed her Thursday hair appointment. She loved her entire family and her great-grandson, Brody was the light of her life. Her family is going to miss her spaghetti, pound cakes, chicken casserole and her hearty breakfasts. Doris had a knack for remembering “everyone’s” birthday and she always sent a card remembering them. Her family will miss Doris’ nurturing spirit. Her family, her friends, her church and her neighbors will all miss her.
Doris is the daughter of the late Louise (Mosteller) Greene and Leo Hanson Greene. Her husband Dan Moss also precedes her in death. Her sister, Jean Cline, has also gone on before her.
Left to cherish their memories of Doris are her daughter, Angie Hall and her husband, Ron and sons Jeff Moss and his wife April and Chris Moss and his wife Nora. Missing their grandmother are her four grandchildren, Courtney Moss, Amanda Rodriguez and her husband Nathan, Kaitlyn Tomberlin and her husband Chase and Cameron Moss. Her legacy includes her great-grandson, Brody and another baby on the way. Her sister Juanita Wright and brother Ed Greene are also grieving.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Pastor David Belle Isle, of Parkwood Baptist in Gastonia, will officiate and offer words of comfort and hope to family and friends that gather to remember Doris. Chris Moss, Jeff Moss, Ron Hall, Nathan Rodriguez, Chase Tomberlin and Cameron Moss are her pallbearers.
