Doris Jean Cox

Bessemer City - Doris Phillips Cox age 73, of Bessemer City died Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Robin Johnson House in Dallas. She was a native of Jefferson Georgia, the daughter of the late Larkin and Alice Kent Thomas and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Dallas.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband; Jim Cox, a daughter; Wendy Weldon of Belmont, two sons; Bryant Phillips and wife Anne of Gastonia, Donny Phillips of Bessemer City, two step daughters; Teresa Windham, Sherri Farmer both of Sumter, SC, five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren .

Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents, first husband; Ross Bryant Phillips, a son; Richard Larkin Phillips, a sister; Minnie Bridges, three brothers; Otis, Odell and Bill Thomas.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Maranatha Baptist Church at 104 Downey Lake Rd. Dallas, NC with Reverend Chris Doster officiating.

Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
