Donnie Lee Armstrong

Donnie Lee Armstrong, 71, of Belmont, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 after a short illness at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Donnie was a native of Mt. Holly and was the son of the late Carl Lee and Ruth Guin Armstrong.

Donnie was a graduate of Mt. Holly High School in 1961. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired as an Industrial Engineer with Jenkins Metal Company, Gastonia after many years of service. He was former owner of Stylecrest Molding and Millwork, Belmont. Donnie was a faithful and dedicated employee of Carothers Funeral Homes for several years after his retirement.

Donnie is a member of Grace Baptist Church, Mt. Holly.

Donnie loved his wife and family, loved life and everyone in it. He loved to spend time at his home at Oak Island and fix up his rental houses.

Donnie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Lee Armstrong; son, Kenneth Armstrong of Charlotte; daughter, Angela Denette Armstrong of Charlotte; brother, Charles Armstrong and his wife Becky of Winchester, Virginia; two grandchildren, Dara Sherrin of Gastonia, Seth Sherrin of Sylva.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church, 300 Westland Farm Road, Mt. Holly with Rev. Eric Lively and Celebrant Corey Tinker officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens with Military Honors by the United States Air Force and the Gaston County Honor Guard.
