Clarence was born October 20, 1929 to the late Willie Dixon and Mary (Green) Dixon in Gadsden County, FL. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Weequahic Golf Club in NJ. He loved life, enjoyed laughter, was a sharp dressed man and will always be remembered by his family as the “life of the party”. He loved reading the daily papers and was an “unofficial politician”. He loved his country and served in the United States Army. Clarence enjoyed the old black and white Westerns, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. He was a wise man who was very loving and compassionate. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Elaine Dixon of NC; children, Douglas Dixon of NJ, Valerie Alapati and husband, Sam of TX, Wayne Dixon and wife, Monique of GA, Martin Dixon and wife, Renee of NJ, Stephanie Dixon of NC; brother, Bernard Dixon of FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clarence was preceded in death by two children, Willie Dixon and Curtis Hawkins; three siblings, James Hutley, Arthur Wilson Sr. and Bishop Rushie Dixon.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel in Gastonia. Dr. Reverend A.T. Pearson will preside.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 ~ 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
