A native of McAdenville, he was the son of the late Loyd and Janie Bynum Watts.
Mr. Watts was a United States Army veteran and retired from L.S. Rankin Oil Company.
He was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell and a former member of McAdenville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Watts of Gastonia; brother, L. B. Watts of Belmont; 6 stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Eunice Rankin and Eloise Phillips.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell with Rev. David Clippard and Rev. Walt Griggs officiating.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors provided by Gaston County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 pm Monday at the church prior to the service.
