She was born in Cherokee County, daughter of the late Isaac Marshall and Mary Pack West.
She was beautician and worked for Suzette’s Beauty Shop, Dallas for 50 years. She was a member of Loray Baptist Church.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Abingdon Place for the love and care given to Mrs. Tate.
Mrs. Tate is survived by one son, Bobby Tate and wife Delores of Gastonia; one sister, Geneva Boring of Murphy; one grandson, Shannon Tate and wife Julie; one granddaughter, Casey Tate; three great-grandchildren, Jared Tanner, Cadee Tate, Alyssa Selvey.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia with the funeral service to follow in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years, Buford Alfred Tate; four brothers; four sisters.
