David Kenneth Mahar

David Kenneth Mahar, age 43, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport surrounded by his loving family. Born January 19, 1971 in Lockport, David is the son of Helen (Lorenc) Mahar and the late Kenneth J. Mahar. He married Gwen Murdock April 29, 2000 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Gasport.

David was a 1989 graduate of Royalton-Hartland Central Schools. After graduation, he joined the Navy, serving from 1989 until 1993. When David returned from serving his country, he attended North East Institute. He worked for Oerlikon-Balzers based out of Hamilton, Ontario working in quality control. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and all sports, especially the Yankees, Steelers and Sabres teams. He also enjoyed traveling. Thru work he and his wife were able to travel to Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Italy and France. He went to St. Kitts in the Caribbean on his honeymoon and Colorado for hunting. His last trip was to NY City to see the Yankees. He had lived in Lockport for the past18 years, previously of Gasport.

Surviving David is his loving wife, Gwen and children: Sean and Kiley. Son of: Helen Mahar and the late Kenneth Mahar; brother of: Joyce A. Mahar of Lockport. David is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday from Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephens R.C. Church, 21 Vernon Street, Middleport, NY at 11:00 am with the Reverend Daniel Fawls officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in David’s name would be appreciated to Niagara Hospice or Roswell Cancer Institute.
