William F. Murphree, age 85 of Morris, AL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, March 22, 2015. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He never met a stranger and loved nothing more than traveling the country’s back roads with his wife viewing beautiful scenery. Bill retired with 23 years of service as a Field Inspector with Jefferson County and then worked for NAPA Auto Parts for 17 more years before retiring for good. He was a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None”. He was a former Member of the Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Conference. Currently he was a member of the Restoration Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Murphree and his mother, Goldie Murphree , and later his step mothers, Nola, Miriam, and Thelma Murphree; a brother, Bob Murphree; and very special grandchildren, Melissa Oglesby and grandson, Tommy Sims. He is survived by his loving family, his bride of 63 years this June, Mary Murphree; a son, Mike Murphree (Tina); his daughters, Karen Stanford (Barry) and Kathy Calvert (David); His pride and joy grandchildren, Alex Sims (Heather), Shane Oglesby (Debbie), Justin Murphree (Sherry), Faith Smith (Wesley), J.D. Calvert, Erin Taylor,(Kyle), C.J. Bell, Jessica Vick, and Jacob Vick; and his very special great grandchildren, C.J., Aaron, Riley, Taylor, Maddie, Wyatt, Braxton Cole, Sean, Keanan, and Braxten Clay; very special Border Collie Prissy and his very special kids next door, Robin and Joe Thrailkill.
Chapel funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Royal, AL in Blount County.
