Thomas was the youngest of eleven siblings. He was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to fish and hunt, he was listed as a "Top Ten Turkey Hunter" in the Birmingham News and Post Herald, he was a little league baseball coach in Pinson for over 20 years. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Pinson. He was a devoted family man and he loved his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with them.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Albert Harper and Gussie Mae Carter Harper and his ten older siblings.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Harper, two sons, Rodney Harper and Dwight Harper (Kelli); one daughter, Pam Wilkinson (Tom); six grandchildren, Nicole Phillips, Trent Harper (Sydney), Natalie Harper; Shiann Harper, Mason Underwood (Larry), and Ragan Wilkinson; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Whisenhunt, Vera Phillips, Solie Phillips, Hayden Harper, and Lawson Underwood, many other family members and a host of friends.
A graveside service for Thomas will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071.
