Terry was born on March 19, 1963. He was dealt a bad hand; however, receiving his first heart
surgery at only nineteen months old. A congenital heart defect meant Terry would need a
transplant. With the help of his devoted mother and support from extended family, Terry traveled
to California, hoping he would get the call. After three stressful years of waiting, Terry
underwent a heart and single lung transplant on April 6, 1996. The transplant gave Terry a new
chance at life, granting him another twenty-seven years with us, an everlasting fortune only a
few other transplant patients have received. Terry maintained his fighting spirit until the end. He
passed on the night of June 24, 2023. Despite his health struggles, Terry possessed a wonderful
sense of humor, always ready with a joke or entertaining story. To honor that light-hearted spirit,
a celebration of life event will be held at a future date for family and close friends. He was
preceded in death by his father Connie Mack Thomason, his mother, Angelien B. Wood, and his
stepfather, Thomas M. Wood. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Nancy
Thomason, his nephew Justin Thomason, his step-sisters, Laurie Wood Henderson and Angie
Wood Hughes. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held at a later date.
To honor Terry, consider bestowing the gift of life to another individual by becoming an organ donor.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsgardendalechapel.com for the Thomason family.
