She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry F. and Lillian Day; husbands Herbert Portwood and Benny Reed and sister, Judy Cox.
Survivors include daughter, Deorah Michael; son, David Portwood (Jane); daughters, Cindy Brundage, Belinda Petrapoulos (David) and Cindi Simpson (Bruce). Grandchildren, Holly Syx (Brian), Carrie Michael, John Michael (Michelle), Timothy Michael, Ben Brundage (Macey), Amy Brundage, Matthew Brundage, Luke Brundage, Daniel Portwood (Julie), Sarah Portwood, Jeremy Farris and Jessica Farris. Great Grandchildren; Elijah Syx (Madison), Micah Syx, Isaiah Syx, Malachi Syx, Levi Syx, Abby Syx, Savannah Michael, Bella Michael, Rebecca Hayes Madden (Ivan), Jacob Norwood, Lyric Norwood, Isaac Norwood, Gideon Portwood, Ezra Portwood and Ezekial Portwood, Lennie Brundage, Lee Brundage. Great-Great Grandchildren; Ezekiel Syx and Findley Madden.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. She was retired from the United States Postal Service and a member of the American Postal Workers Union.
A visitation for Sarah will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel in Magnolia Hall, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Sarah will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071-2374.
