Samantha Short

Samantha is survived by her husband, Ronny Short; parents, Wayne and Evelyn Mauldin; grandmother, Sammie G. Lee; sister, Jennifer Mauldin Hernandez; brother and his wife, Brandon and Miranda Mauldin; nephews, Randy Box and his wife, Breanna Box , Aidan Hernandez, and Jakob Mauldin; in-laws, Mike and Connie Short, Robin Stull and Patti Short, Christy Cohen, Patrick and Teddie Higgins, and Ian and Gabby McGrew; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Youlys Mauldin and Dewey Lee; her grandmother Nina Mauldin; and her nephew Shelton Box.

Samantha was a loyal employee of BBVA for 25 years in personal banking and training. She was an avid football fan, a devout fan of the CrimsonTide and The Saints. She had an incredibly tender heart for cats and dogs. Her desire to ensure homeless pets had proper care inspired her to contribute to the Humane Society. Samantha loved social gatherings, to entertain and enjoyed cooking for gatherings. Above all, family was first and foremost for Samantha. She was the world’s best aunt. Only Samantha could have the patience and sanity to bring into her home, year after year, all of her’s and Ronny’s immediate family and some extended family to celebrate Thanksgiving as one family. This family’s world will never be the same without her. There are no words to sufficiently state how sorely she will be missed by all who loved and cherished her.

A memorial service to honor the life of Samantha is scheduled at John’s Ridout in Gardendale for 7/26 at 2:00 p.m. Family to be received at 12:30. Friends to be received 1:00-2:00 p.m.
