Ruby Steele Guthrie, age 88 passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. She was born on February 13, 1935 to the late George Wesley and Ola Welborn Steele. Ruby loved gospel music with The Inspirations being one of her favorites. She was an antique collector, loved to help others in need, knew how to make any room into a warm and inviting space. Ruby had the gift of kindness and the most generous heart.
She is preceded in death by seven siblings, Agnes, Blanche, Inez, Kenneth, G.W., Eddis, and Mary. Ruby is survived by her children, Paula Guthrie and David Guthrie and his wife Regina Mullins; her sister Dorothy McKeever and her husband Ron; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with burial at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
