Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite times and memories were spent at home with family as they gathered together for food and fellowship. He was so loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Ronald graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham and attended Birmingham Southern College. He retired from Gumdrop Books (Central Programs, Inc.) where he worked as a sales manager for over 40 years. During his time there he was awarded the Salesman of the Year and Salesman of the Month multiple times. He was a lifetime member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and a member of the East Town Marketing Sales Club for many years. He loved to play golf and made golf clubs for a hobby.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Burney Ulysses Douglas and Ann Rose Douglas, as well as a sister, Rose Ann McClure (Ken).
Ronald is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 58 years, Gladys Hebson Douglas; three daughters, Rhonda Baur (Chris), Kristin Lee (Tsali) and Elizabeth DeArmond (Ryan); one brother, James Harry Douglas; one sister, Leslie Thompson (Ronny); three grandchildren, Keith Martin, Austin Baur, and Stephanie Baur; three nieces, Heather Brunson (Brandon), Valerie McClure, and Jennifer Nix (Christopher); great nephew Levi Nix, and many friends.
Celebration of Life Services for Ronald will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071. A time of visitation will begin at 4:00 PM with a funeral service at 5:00 PM.
