Robert Alexander Buell, age 66 died unexpectedly at his home in Kimberly on January 10, 2011, and immediately went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Susannah K. Buell of Thornville, OH; sister, Shirley Ann Buell of Lancaster, OH and brother, William E. Buell, Jr. of Columbus, OH. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Sherry Hayes Buell; five children: son, Brian (Tara) Hayes of Houston, TX; daughters: Wendy Buell (Dan) Bass of Brewton, AL, Shannon E. Buell of Birmingham, AL, Amy Taylor (Sergio) Lazaro, of Gardendale and Abbey Buell (Ashley) Cullifer of Dothan, AL; ten grandchildren: Dylan Chase Taylor of Kimberly; Daniel, Anna and Jacob Bass of Brewton, AL; Kayla and Kristen Hayes of Houston, TX; Grace, Olivia and Cole Faucheux, and Ashlyn Cullifer of Dothan, AL. Mr. Buell is also survived by his precious Mother-in-Law, Mavis Brown Hayes of Gardendale; sisters-in-law: Sarah Hayes (George Ellard) of Gardendale and Glynda Hayes (Reiner) Abraham of Germany, along with a host of very special nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Mr. Buell retired from a long and distinguished career with the United States Federal Government Department of Veterans Affairs, and had also served honorably as a police officer in Panama City, FL and Deputy Sheriff in Hillsborough County, FL. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served during the Viet Nam Era. Services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at Enon Baptist Church in Morris, AL. Dr. John Hambright and Rev. Ken McWilliams will officiate. The family will receive friends and guests Friday from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Sergio Lazaro, Jeffrey Senft, Scott Jones, Jason Mydland, Brad Stark, George Ellard, Bill Evans, Mike Falkinberg and Johnny Love. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. David J. Kimbrell, Mr. Aulton Hughes, and Mrs. Marion McCowan and members of her Sunday School class at Enon Baptist Church.
