Richard “Rick” Norman Green, age 71, left this world on December 6, 2020 at home while in the loving care of his family. He overcame many health problems over the years, through his faith in God and optimistic demeanor. At the end of his life, he was at peace and ready to meet his Heavenly Father.
Rick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna; his children, Shannon Burnett, Jennifer Hackney (Brian), and Jill Meredith; five grandchildren, Zachary Ehl (Tiffany), Haleigh Roan (Austin), Henry Meredith, Oliver Meredith, Jaylyn Roca, and Ava Hernandez, great-grandchildren, Eli Roan, Emma Roan (coming in April); his cousin (like a brother) Eddie Massey and his brother, Terry Green. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Rae Green; his mother, Frances “Dean” Green, and his grandparents
Rick worked with Jefferson County Environmental Services for many years and retired at the age of 56 to enjoy the “good” life. On February 19, 1982, he married Donna and together with their three daughters, created a family which he loved, guided, and encouraged through biblical principles.
Rick loved the Lord, his family, classic cars, and Alabama football. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and thoroughly enjoyed his Senior Adult Life Group. He had a witty sense of humor, and was always a great listener with a heart for helping others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, December 11th at Ridouts, Gardendale Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 1 – 2 PM and the service will follow at 2 PM. Rev. Harold Rhodes will officiate. Burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens will follow the service.
