Phillip served in the military for 30 years in the National Guard, US Navy, and US Coast Guard retiring as A Chief Petty Officer. He then worked in communications for 30 years and retired from AT&T.
Phillip, affectionately known as “PawPaw”, loved his family above everything else. He always put his family first and loved to spend time with them. He was a great storyteller and his family and friends enjoyed all the story’s he would tell, even the adventurous ones he would make up on the spot for those that needed a smile; it is one of the things they will proudly remember about him. He loved pulling pranks on people and making people laugh. He also enjoyed spending his time watching NASCAR and football.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Willard E. Jimmerson; Stepmom, Louise Jimmerson; and a brother, Weldon Jimmerson.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra Jimmerson; three daughters, Sheila Brumbeloe, Tracy (John) Ashley, and Tasha (Mark) Gainey; five grandsons; six granddaughters; one great granddaughter; one brother, Sam (Brenda) Jimmerson; mother Christine Powell, half-sister, Linda and half-brother, Frank; his faithful dog, Bailey Bear; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
