Michael Steve Stephen Belcher

Michael Stephen "Steve" Belcher of Mt. Olive, born January 31, 1947, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. He was a Sergeant with the City of Gardendale Police Department, serving there from 1969 until his retirement in 1988 and was a member of the North Jefferson Fraternal Order of Police #59. Steve was a member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurmon and Daphine Belcher and his son, Michael David Belcher. Survivors include his faithful and devoted wife of 40 years, Becky; daughter Angela (David) Hardgrave; daughter-in-law, Melissa Belcher; grandchildren: Jesse and Matthew Belcher, Sarah, Kathryn and Lily Hardgrave; and sister, Clara (Glenn) Guthrie. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Rev. Doug Moore is officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
