Maybelline Byrd Goodwin

Mabel Goodwin Blizzard, age 91 of Bessemer, AL passed away in the loving hands of her husband on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Mabel was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Her love for Jesus radiated from her soul and her joy and tender heart was something to experience. While we will miss her here on earth, we will carry the memories of her in our hearts, and we will forever be reminded of her love through her husband. Spending 30 years of their lives together, their love for each other was unmatched and it shown bright wherever they went. Together, they attended Sparks Gap Baptist Church and were faithful attendees of Moore Bible Study.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Versie Mae Byrd; sons, Eddie Goodwin and William Blizzard Jr; brother-in-law, Pat Peckham and nephew, Ricky Peckham.

Mabel is survived by her loving husband William ‘Bill’ Blizzard; sisters Gwen Bishop (Paul) and Loretta Peckham; nieces and nephews, Renay Brown (Frankie), Charlene Ryan (Barry), Ricky Peckham (Patty) and Donnie Peckham (Jennifer); and great nieces and nephews, Christina, Hannah, Heather, Sean, Noah, Robbie, Ryan, Amanda, Melinda, Samantha, Riley, Chaz, Cody, Lindsay and Brandon.

The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 am at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am with burial to immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
