Marvin Graves, age 78, stepped into eternity on August 3, 2019, after an extended illness in Montgomery, AL. Services will be at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, AL 35071 on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Visitation is at 10:00 AM and the funeral is at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Morris, AL.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Mary Graves, brothers William Graves, Jerry Graves, and sister Francis Quinn. He is survived by brothers Arthur Graves, Frank Graves and sister Sherrell Elaine Graves. Marvin had four children - William Graves, JT and Sheryl Turner, David Graves, and Daniel Graves. He deeply loved his eleven grandchildren - Jodi, Kaitlyn, Madison, Chloe, Clarke, Campbell, Jett, Zeke, Elly, Adah, Lily and one great-grandson, John Rayburn.
He could be found starting his day with a cup of coffee and the Bible in his lap. He would hum and sing as he read God’s word. His greatest joy was a deep love for Jesus, who changed his life. Around his home church of Pineview Baptist in Thomasville he was always ready to share candy or a song with anyone. He found great hope in ministering to others who were sick or downcast. He knew the resounding depth of God’s love as Father and passionately shared the good news of the gospel with others.
In lieu of flowers, Marvin requested a donation in his memory to 1 Way Ministries so that the good news and great hope Marvin found in Jesus can be carried around the world. Send donations to 1 Way Ministries, 3301 Tartan Lane, Birmingham, AL 35242 or online at www.1wayministries.org
