Louise 'Lou" B. Geer of Mt. Olive, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family on December 31. 2021. She was 89 years old. Lou was born in Empire, Alabama on December 19, 1932 to Verla and Kreson Butler. She was married to the love of her life, William "Bill" P. Geer on August 2, 1950 and then moved to Mt. Olive, Alabama where they raised their 4 boys. They were married for 26 years when he went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 1977. Lou was later married to Glenn E. Scarbrough, her helpmate and devoted husband, for 16 years until his passing in 2003. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lou was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Mt. Olive Alliance Church. Her love for the Lord was passionate and a driving force in her life that carried her through many trying times. She spent many years working in the children's department of Parisians Department Store and was loved by many customers for her cheerful and kind personality. She was an excellent gardener and loved to share the many things that she grew and prepared with her family and friends.
Lou is also preceded in death by her parents Verla and Kreson Butler; and siblings, Kenneth Butler, Winfred Butler, and Evelyn Davis. She is survived by her brother Milton (Morrell) Butler of McCalla; her sons; David (Judy) Geer of South Carolina; Danny (Terri) Geer of Corner; Mark (Stacy) Geer of Mt. Olive; and Michael (Terri) Geer of Morris; grandchildren; Lindsey (Grayson) Dove; Meghan (Corey) Gardner; Katie Geer; Lori (Adam) Cochran, Nick (Cailah) Geer; Sierra Geer; Thomas Geer; Andrew Burden; Aaron Burden; and Preston Geer; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family extends special gratitude to Lou’s caregiver, Kimberly Frost, at Legacy Woods Assisted Living for taking such good care of her.
Services are Friday January 7, 2022 at Ridouts Gardendale Chapel, with Jeffrey Griffis, officiating. Visitation from 1:00pm - 2:00pm with service immediately following. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
