Linda graduated from Minor High School, class of 1962. She retired from Newsouth Federal Savings after 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Mt. Olive for 48 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir, both the Celebration choir and the Amazing Grays. She and her husband Jim loved to travel in the RV and spend time together touring the states. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished her family and the time they were able to spend together. She was a passionate Alabama fan and loved to explain to the TV during the football games how Bear Bryant, Nick Saban and other coaches should coach the team.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling Edward Carver and Louise Goode Carver, a daughter, Susan Elizabeth McQueen, and three sisters, Deloris, Una Rae, and Jerry Ann.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 58.5 years, James B. Green, Jr.; three sons, James B. Green III (Linda) of Hayden, Michael T. Green (Kristi) of Lillian, and Mark A. Green (Jessica) of Hayden; one brother, Edward Carver (Regina); eight grandchildren, Jeremy Green (Jaisa), Jessica Smitherman (Smitty), Douglas Green (Julia), Dylan Green (Jessica), Tyler Fuster, Mark Andrew Green, Jr., Jennifer Smith (David), and Lauren Northington; fifteen great grandchildren, many other family members and a host of friends.
A visitation for Linda will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive, 3200 Mt. Olive Road, Mt. Olive, AL 35117. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive, followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
