ELLISON, LINDA HAND, of Gardendale, born July 28, 1957, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2010. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Crouch Hand. Survivors include her husband, Steve Ellison; father, James Delbert Hand; sister, Carol Hand Brown (Jay); brothers: Jim Hand (Linda) and Doug Hand (Lawanna); cousin Del Johnson; father and mother-in-law, Jerome and Peggy Ellison; sisters-in-law: Denise Hill and Gwen Ward (Kenny); as well as many extended family members and very special friends. She was a very special aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. After graduating from Gardendale High School in 1975, Linda attended the University of Montevallo, graduating from there in 1979. She then worked for more than 30 years with the Jefferson County Department of Human Resources Office of Child Support as a Social Worker. Linda was a past president and active member of Birmingham Adult Christian Singles (BACS). She was also an active member of Central Baptist Church of Gardendale where she sang in the choir. Linda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and singing praises to Him. She is now at home with Jesus and her mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Baptist Church of Gardendale, 4650 Newfound Road, Mt. Olive, AL 35117. Linda's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ridout's Gardendale Chapel is directing.
