Kathy T. Nguyen

Kathy T. Nguyen, passed away on October 21, 2019 at the age of 52. Kathy was born in Vietnam in 1967 and came to the USA in 1995, where she became a US Citizen. She lived most of her life in Pinson, Alabama. She owned several businesses and had a host of friends from Nail Avenue and Ken’s BBQ in Pinson. Kathy was a loyal friend who was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved everybody, most of all her family. She was always full of laughter and joy. Kathy loved life and especially her two sons John and Joseph, along with her loving husband of 20 years Mike. She was a classy lady who loved Alabama Football, fishing, decorating, beautiful clothes and shoes. All who knew Kathy loved her and she will certainly be missed and remembered for her kindness. A special thanks goes to Renae Demetris Sawyer who has been a faithful caregiver for the past year. Kathy was a member of the Catholic faith and had also attended many other local churches with her family over the years. Kathy loved the Lord Jesus Christ and is now in his presence. She is preceded in death by her father, Trung Truong. She is survived by her mother, Mau Pham; Husband, Mike Nguyen; sons John and Joseph Nguyen; brothers, Hung Truong and family, Dung Truong and family, The Truong and family, Truyen Truong and family, Tin Truong and family, Sang Truong and family; sister, Bich Truong and family. Numerous nieces and nephews, also aunts and uncles in the USA and Vietnam.

Kathy coming to America, becoming a citizen, starting a family, living the American Dream, meeting all you amazing people, and leaving her lasting impact would not be possible if it wasn’t for her father. He made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War and everything she was able to accomplish is attributed to him.

A celebration of life visitation for Kathy will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A prayer service will occur Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A celebration of life funeral mass will occur Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM at Parish of Our Lady of La Vang, 5224 1st Ave North Birmingham, AL 35232. A burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, Alabama 35071.
