John F. Carroll

John F. “PawPaw” Carroll, age 69 of Warrior, AL passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017. John graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1965 and went to work for Docs Transfer and Warehouse where he has worked and been the office manager for over 50 years. He was a member of Gardendale’s First Baptist Church, a member of Sam Thompson’s Masonic Lodge # 456, and a Zamora Temple Shriner. John was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Edna Carroll and his half-sister, Barbara Higginbotham. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rhonda Phillips Carroll; a daughter, Nicole Brakefield; brother, Edward Carroll (Glenda); sister, Marie Terry (Douglas); grandson, Isaac Brakefield; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.

A visitation will be held Tuesday evening at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5:30 to 8 PM with chapel services on Wednesday beginning at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Morris Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Rev. Larry Hayes and Othell Phillips will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation Fund.
