Joe Edwin Terrell, of Fultondale, AL died March 29, 2013. Joe’s parents welcomed his arrival 65 years ago on January 1, 1948. He was the son of the late Rev. Ben E. Terrell, Jo Lynn Gershon, and stepfather, Philip Gershon. Joe was also preceded in death by his son, Andy Terrell, and brother Jim Terrell. Joe has mourned the passing of his mother, stepfather, and brother all in less than two years; however, he knew that one day he would be reunited with them and his other beloved family members and friends.
Joe is survived by his wife, Linda Terrell of Fultondale, AL; sons Scott (Jenny )Terrell of Woodstock, GA; Benji (Amy) of Fayetteville, AL; grandchildren Ashley and Cole Terrell of Fayetteville, AL; sister Becky (Mark) Carl of Fairhope AL; nephews Brad Parmer of Austin, TX, Capt. Beau Parmer of Omaha, NE, Capt. Justin (Amanda) Carl of Xenia, OH; and LT JG Daniel Carl of San Diego, CA; Aunt Jackie (Tony) Acuesta of Grand Isle FL, and a brother-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Taylor, of Atlanta, GA that was as close as any brother.
As close as Joe and Linda were, they lived in a “house divided” with Linda being an Alabama Crimson Tide fan and Joe being an Auburn Tigers fan. Losing a bet here and there, Joe would sport an Alabama shirt for as little time as necessary to make good on his bet, usually with Linda. He also enjoyed deer hunting and NASCAR racing as a huge fan of Tony Stewart.
Visitation and viewing will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Monday, April 1, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 6:30 conducted by Joe’s cousin, Johnny McPherson. Just as Joe would want it, please come as you are to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, prayers and support are most needed for Linda as she struggles to get through this difficult time.
