She was born on November 17,1952 in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Charles Henry Belvin and Jo Belvin.
Joanne was a loving and caring person who always put others before herself. She had a deep love for children and enjoyed teaching them about the love of Jesus Christ in Sunday school. Joanne was also an encourager who found joy in praise and worship. She had a beautiful singing voice and often recited her poetry in church.
She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Sims and her son Jason Sims and his Wife Lisa. Sims. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Belvin Stokes (Barry) and brother Charles Belvin, Jr. (Ginger).She was preceded in death by her father Charles Henry Belvin, mother Jo Belvin, sister Brenda Posey, and sister Lela Sparks.
She attended North Birmingham Primary School and later graduated from Phillips High School. She was a talented writer and enjoyed creative writing, poetry, and writing songs. In her free time, she found solace in working in the yard, tending to nature's beauty.
Joanne worshipped at the First Independent Church of Oneonta, Alabama.
Joanne Sims will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, care, and encouragement will forever be remembered.
