Jean Kirkland

Jean married Rex Kirkland in 1964, and together they raised three children, Scott, Kevin, and Becky.

Jean enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and dedicated her life to loving her family, and anyone else she met. Diagnosed with MS in 1984 when her children were still young, she faced many struggles in life, often from a wheelchair, but she was not one to complain. Her strength, courage, and her beautiful, bright smile were inspiring and uplifting to everyone who knew her, even on her worst days. She had an unwavering faith in God that she always wanted to share with those around her.

Jean is survived by her husband, Rex Kirkland. Sons Scott Kirkland (Ronnie), Kevin Kirkland (Kelly), and daughter Rebecca "Becky" Persons. Grandson Daniel Kirkland and great-granddaughter Kennedy Joy Kirkland. Jean was predeceased by her mother Louise Alder Ray, her father Everett Bruce Ray, and her brothers John Bruce Ray and James Evan Ray.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel located at 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071 on November 16th from 12:30 - 1:30. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL 35071.
