James Neal Gravitt, age 84 of Gardendale passed away on August 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Addie Gravitt; and son, Ronnie McCracken. Mr. Gravitt honorably served in the US Navy and was retired from US Steel. Upon retirement from US Steel, he became an owner/operator for Osborne Trucking Company. He was a member of North Gardendale Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Gravitt; daughter, Chequita Wilson(Jack); grandchildren, Jennifer Burns(Daren), Amy Godwin(Troy), and Beth Wright(Randy); 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and brother, Linden Gravitt. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Marshall Reid will be officiating the services.
