January 9, 1936 – February 5, 2021
James Bice, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 5, 2021. He was the son of the late Thomas Malcolm and Dorothy Mae Bice. He was a resident of Pinson, AL, and a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. James was also a retired supervisor from Alabama Power Company.
James is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda Bice; daughter, Alisa McCoy; son, James Richard Bice, Jr. (“Richie”); sister, Alma Lee Brasseale; brother, Thomas M. Bice, Jr.
James is survived by his son-in-law, Rick McCoy (Debbie); granddaughter, Lindsay Hughes (Kevin); grandson Jared McCoy (Ashlyn); eight great-grandchildren: Audrey, Jonah, and Laurel Grace Hughes; Eliza, Samuel, Charlotte, Jack, and Lillian Alisa McCoy; brother-in-law, Wayne Goodwin; sister-in-law, Gail Mathews; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James had a very generous spirit throughout his life. He enjoyed helping others in any way that he could. He loved his family and friends dearly. At the age of 84, James publicly professed his faith in Christ and was baptized. As his body grew weaker during his last year on earth, his relationship with Jesus strengthened, and he eagerly anticipated going to his Heavenly home. “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” 2Corinthians 4:16
Visitation for friends and family will be Wednesday, February 10th, at 1:00 pm and a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. A livestream of the service will be available through the family’s private Facebook page. For more information contact Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, (205) 631-6252.
