Howard was born October 31, 1942 in West End, Alabama to the late Olive L. and Letha Miller.
Howard graduated from West End High School and then attended Auburn University and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Howard served four years in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. Following the Naval Service, he was employed with the Birmingham Police Department serving 26 years. As an Officer he served as acting Deputy Chief.
Howard was a devoted member of Enon Baptist Church, a devoted husband of 34 years to his wife, Doris Crow Miller, and a devoted father to his children. He enjoyed days on the golf course and fishing.
Howard is preceded in passing by his parents. Family remaining to mourn his passing are his wife Doris; his son and his wife, Steven and Nickie Miller; his daughter and her husband, Dr. Susan Miller and Dr. Albert Schoenenberger; his stepson and his wife, George and Hoa Trummell IV; and his grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Timothy Miller, McKenzie Miller, Hannah Trummell, and Danny Trummell. In addition to family, Howard leaves a host of loving friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 9:00 to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am with John Hambright and Zac Reno officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
