Hirston Pickens Jr.

August 27, 1947 - April 21, 2023

Hirston (Pop)was born in Birmingham, Al and passed away peacefully after a long illness at the age of 75. Hirston was a resident of Gardendale, Al. Hirston was a member of The Olive Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Mount Olive Al.

He was a proud grandfather of two amazing grandsons and an amazing Daughter in law.

In 2014 his dream came true of owning a condo in Perdido Key, Fl and meeting new friends while sitting on the porch of the condo. In 2018 his dream of island life came true when he and his wife moved to Innerarity Island in Perdido Key, Florida where he resided until 2022. He loved riding to Johnson Beach and sitting in the van and watching the Gulf (he could not get out due to falling) and dreaming of walking on the beach with the love of his life Jan. There was also a joke that he told everyone he was the Master of the Universe.

Hirston was preceded in death by his parents, Hirston Pickens Sr. And Emma Ruth Pickens, his sister Laura Ann Burdett and his beloved son John Christopher Pickens.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Jan) Pickens, Camden Pickens, Brenden Pickens and Daughter in Law Georgiann Pickens and two Goddaughters Kelli Fievet Edwards (Brian), Karri Fievet Morton (Richard); and extended family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life on May 20, 2023 at The Olive Grove Congregational Methodist Church, 3001 Mount Olive Road, Mount Olive Al 35117

with visitation at 10:00 and the Celebration of Life at 11:00 followed by a meal at the church.
