Geraldine McKinney Simpson

Geraldine McKinney Simpson, age 87, of Mount Olive, Alabama passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023. Geraldine was born on June 19, 1936 to the late William and Pauline Cole. Geraldine was a devoted member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She loved bluegrass music, dancing, crocheting, and visiting with friends at the senior centers nearby. Geraldine was a loving mother to her three daughters and MawMaw to many grandchildren.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, Herman L. McKinney, Sr.; her second husband of 24 years, Paul S. Simpson, Jr.; her son, Herman Leon McKinney, Jr.; and her son-in-laws, Ronnie England and Billy Bowman. She is survived by her three daughters, Reita Bowman, Sylvia Davis (John), and Robin England; her two stepsons, Chuck Simpson and Ron Simpson; her grandchildren, Leslie Cater (Steve), Kristi Millwood (Michael), Heath Thomas (Loretta), Angela Jett (Mark), Amy Huffstutler (Brandon), Candice Tavernier, and Shelley Nicholls (Allen Graham); her great grandchildren, Preston, Mikaela Street (Dakota), Maddie Anderson (Timothy), Zachery, Kason, Luke, Mason, Ryker, Isaiah, Willa, Lydia, Kash, Evangeline, Vincent, Liliana, and William; one great great granddaughter, Georgia Kate Street; and a host of extended relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. A Celebration of Geraldine’s Life will begin at 11:00 am with burial to immediately follow at Mount Olive Cemetery.
