Gene Barnard Thomas

Gene B. Thomas went to be with the Lord on June 16th, 2024 at 76. He was born on July 2, 1947, to the late Lige and Ruby Thomas of Birmingham, Alabama. Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve, the U.S. Army, and then retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 28 years of service. After retirement Gene began working as a Security Officer at Century Plaza Mall, Children's Hospital, and various locations with Security Engineers Inc. Gene was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Pinson.

He is preceded in passing by his father, Lige L. Thomas; his mother, Ruby Leslie F. Thomas; his brother, Lige Thomas, Jr.; and his sisters, Patricia Thomas and Louise Lewis.

Gene was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Nancy D. Thomas; he was an adoring father to his daughter, Casey Thomas; and son, Timothy "Tim" Graves (Christina); and a loving uncle to Brandy Thomas, Matthew Wadsworth, and Shaundra R. Dean. Gene is also survived by his nephew Michael B. Salter (Dani); his great nephew, Taylor A. Thomas (Kelsey); his great niece, Rhaenyra Salter; and his great great nephew, Asher Thomas.

The family will receive friends at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Thursday, June 20th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Genes' Life will begin at 2:00 pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. The Committal Service will immediately follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama. Please help us celebrate Gene by wearing Alabama attire or patriotic colors.
