Fred Eugene Russell, 77 passed away peacefully at his home in Morris, Alabama on the morning of Monday June 29th following a brief illness. He was born in Columbus, Georgia in July of 1942 to Arthur Hughes and Dullie Allison Russell. He served 6 years in the National Guard as a senior aircraft repairman and was a qualified expert sharpshooter. He was an over the road truck driver for different companies retiring from Estes Express Lines in 1998, he was a racing enthusiast and a history buff. He was married to the late Patricia Darden in 1965 whom he fathered two sons with and later divorced. He was married to Carol Faye Curd Russell for 38 years until her passing in 2019.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother Charles Russell, one daughter Linda Berry. He is survived by two sons one daughter and one step son, Jeffery Eugene Russell (Jerri) of Albertville, Alabama, Scott Hughes Russell of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Connie Yates Cox of Brookside Alabama, and David Yates. He was paw paw Fred to 6 grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
The family will be accepting visitation at Ridouts Chapel of Gardendale, Alabama on Sunday, June 5th 2020, starting at 1pm, services at 2pm followed by interment at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
