Frances Elizabeth McGathy Lewis, 74, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully on Monday November 25th, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 25th, 1950, she lived a life full of grace, joy, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
A proud supporter of Auburn football, her Saturdays in the fall were filled with excitement, cheering on her beloved Tigers. Her vibrant personality shone brightly through her lifelong passion for arts.
When she wasn’t dancing, she poured her heart into crafting and crocheting, creating beautiful works of art that warmed the hearts of her family and friends. She had a knack for Bingo that often made her the envy of her table, and her joyful laugh would fill any room she entered.
To know her was to love her. She had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, forming lasting friendships wherever she went. Her warm smile, generous heart, and infectious spirit left a mark on everyone she met.
Frances loved all animals but her dogs especially; never did she not spoil them rotten. She loved her country and showed her patriotism through always decorating her house at every chance she had; she especially loved Christmas and family traditions because she loved cooking and showering her kids and grandkids with gifts she would make. Frances had a love for numbers, and never forgot a birthday, anniversary or date of importance; always the first to congratulate or remind you of these dates.
Above all, Frances found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her love for them was as boundless as her creativity, and her wisdom and kindness will forever guide them.
She is preceded in death by her eldest daughter Angel Lewis Ledbetter, her father William Cecil McGathy, her mother Marguerite Juanita Morris McGathy and several other loved ones who have passed. She is survived by her husband, Felix "Eddie" Lewis Jr.; her daughters Pamela Lewis Teer (Paul Teer) and Patricia "Renee" Lewis Turner (Mark Turner); her grandchildren Morgan Ledbetter Everett (Joey Everett), Amber Ledbetter-Phillips, Colby Ledbetter, Faith Spruell McCowan (Dustin McCowan), Haley Spruell Gilleylen (Aaron Gilleylen), Madison Spruell, Mark Allen Turner (Alissa Turner), Alex Teer, Jacob Teer and Kimberly Teer Seyrek-York (Bryli Seyrek-York); great grandchildren Landon, Bentley, Kensley, Karlee, JJ, Axton, Laila, Mallorie, Millie, Cameron, Payton, and newest edition Emma Grace as well extended family who adored her.
