Edward Eugene Clark, was born on July 18th, 1931 in Gadsden, Alabama he passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2018 at the age of 87. He moved to Birmingham in 1939 and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1950. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1956 to 1959. He was a brave man who risked his life serving two years in Germany with the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church Center Point from 1961 to 1973 and he was currently a member of East Gardendale Baptist Church. He worked at the United States Postal Service for 33 years, and retired in 1987. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like spending time at his serene lake house with his beloved wife, Betty. He was fishing with his sons David and Eddie whenever he got a chance, cruising on the boat at sunrise, with his rod, reel and favorite fishing lure.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Bouie W. Clark; mother, Velma Clark; brother, Reverend Ralph H. Clark; sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Clark and Rachel L. Benson.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Betty C, Clark; sons, Edward Clark, Jr., and David A. Clark (Diane); stepchildren, Stephanie Frew (Allen), Randall M. Hancock, Teresa Litizinger (Gary); Grandchildren, Kristin M. Clark, Holly Jo Frew, Casey Frew, and John Litzinger; sister-in-law, Ramona Clark; nieces, nephews and a host of friends; also his canine buddy, Rosie.
Celebration of life services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, November 4th, 2018 with a time of visitation to begin at 11:30am; funeral service at 1:30pm, followed by his burial in Oakwood memorial Gardens.
