David Michael “Mike” Dobbins, aged 74, from Morris, Alabama, passed away on April 10th, 2024. He was born in Niles, Michigan on June 4th, 1949, to the late Darvin and Miriam Dobbins. Mike was very passionate about his faith and enjoyed sharing it with others through involvement in local and international missions. He was an active member of his church, Gardendale First Baptist, and during his many years of service, he taught Sunday School to people of all ages and participated in several men's Bible studies. Mike volunteered for multiple organizations, including Builders for Christ, Jimmie Hale Mission, North Jefferson Women's Center, Disabled Veterans of America, and Wreaths Across America. When not serving his community, he enjoyed restoring himself by camping, hunting, fly fishing, or spending time with his twelve grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Gramps." Mike graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1967. After a year of college, he joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a weapons mechanic. He worked for many years for Pepsi Cola and later retired from Ventura Foods as a Plant Engineering Manager.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darvin Allen Dobbins, his mother, Miriam Mae Harley Dobbins, his brothers, Gary Dobbins and Dennis Dobbins, and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Weger and Gary Nelson. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Teresa F. Dobbins, his children and their spouses, Jessi Dobbins Mulvill and Cory, Joe Dobbins and Julie, Megan Dobbins Yount and Kyle, his stepdaughter and her husband, Falon Helveston and Jake, his grandchildren, Emma Mulvill, Madeline Mulvill Sibayan and her husband Mick, Evan Mulvill, Ember Dobbins, Wylder Dobbins, Sawyer Yount, Miles Yount, Jackson Yount, Axl Yount, Allie Helveston, Turner Helveston, and Presley Helveston, his sisters, Julie Weger, Diane Nelson, Lynn Keller and her husband Craig, his nieces and nephews and their families, Kelly and Patrick Grayam, Tonya Weger, Chad and Danielle Keller, and Cam Keller, and a host of friends from all walks of life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 15th, 2024, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. A Celebration of Mike's Life will commence at 4:00 pm. The family will have a private burial at Alabama National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gardendale First Baptist Church - Missions, Jimmie Hale Missions, North Jefferson Women's Center, or Disabled Veterans of America.
