Rickey worked as a steel worker for many years until his retirement. He was an outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was a hard core Alabama fan and enjoyed playing dominoes. He was the family comedian and loved to make people laugh. His best friend was his Chihuahua named Sugar.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett S. and Lorene N. Torbert; his loving wife, Barbara Jeanette Torbert and two brothers, Roland Torbert and Randy Torbert.
Rickey is survived by his three sons, Steven Torbert (Donna), Curtis Rickey Torbert, Jr. (Michelle), and Joey Haney; three brothers, George Torbert (Teresa), Steven Torbert, and Jerry Torbert (Ann); a sister, Wanda Weldon; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Ann Torbert and Kay Torbert, several other family members and many friends.
A visitation for Curtis will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, Gardendale, AL; funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by his burial in Crooked Creek Cemetery, Sardis Road, Gardendale, AL.
