He was preceded in death by parents, Charles Alvie and Lillian Burns; sisters, Catherine Bentley and Shirley Leopard.
Survivors include wife of 70 years, Betty Burns;daughter, Karen Simmons (Terry), son, Chris Burns, Jr. (Gail); grandchildren, Jennifer Hills, Jody Simmons, Christopher Burns, III, Justin Burns, Matthew Burns; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Burns.
Member of Plumber and Steamfitters Local 91 where he worked as a welder and pipefitter. He was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church.
