Charles proudly served our country in the United States Army where he retired in 1981 as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. After service, he worked in the automotive business for many years and retired from Edwards Chevrolet. He was a member of Gardendale Baptist Tabernacle.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Roy Key and Myrtle Miller Key, his wife, Betty Key, and one brother, Troy Key.
Charles is survived by his son, James "Jimmy" Key of Kimberly; his daughter, Tammy Smith (Charles) of Kimberly; two brothers, Kenneth Key and Coye Key (Janet) of Warrior, one sister, Fay Pugh of Warrior; two grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Amber Smith of Kimberly; one great-grandchild, Hannah Melcher of Kimberly; several other family members and many friends.
Services for Charles will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, with a time of visitation to begin at 1:00 PM; funeral service at 2:00 PM; followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL with full Military Honors.
