Carroll Amos Scogin was born on March 29, 1934 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 10, 2014 at the age of 79.He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather who was loved very much and will be dearly missed. He was a long time member of the Westwood Baptist Church in Forestdale, AL here he also played in the dulcimer group. He enjoyed playing the harmonica. He retired from Union Oil Company after 36 years of service. He loved traveling, fishing, walking, working in his yard, being a grandfather, great grandfather, and being a friend to all. He loved his family with all his heart and loved his Lord even more. Mr. Scogin was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Scogin Beale; brothers, Truman Scogin, James Hillman Scogin, Davis Scogin, and Troy Scogin; and his sisters, Grace Carroll and Jo Laminack. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Inez Head Scogin; and a daughter, Christie Scogin Brewer (Bill) of Cartersville, GA; his three grandchildren, Beth Hamby (Seth), Billy Brewer(Sarah), and Brett Brewer; and great grandchildren, Seth Hamby, Jr., George Hamby, Evey Hamby, and Waits Brewer III; and his sister, Barbara Ann Shelton. Pallbearers will be Bill Brewer, Billy Brewer, Brett Brewer, Seth Hamby, Walt Barnes, and Porter Higginbotham.
Visitation will be Friday, March 14th, 2014 from 12:30 PM to 2 PM at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel. A Chapel funeral service will begin at 2 PM with interment to follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale.
