Carol Fay Odom, age 76 of Birmingham, aL was called home on Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born November 11, 1940, in Birmingham, AL to William G. Odom, Sr. and Frances Hawkins Odom. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, William “Bill” Odom, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Odom of Shelby County, AL; a brother, Dean Odom (Brenda) of Georgia; special friend, Barbara Davis (Bruce); numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews. Carol was never married and she had no children of her own, so she claimed her nieces and close friend’s children as her own. She was also blessed with several four-legged children, whom she loved dearly. Carol loved football, especially her Auburn Tigers. Carol was a dedicated employee at the State of Alabama Highway Department located in Birmingham, retiring after 36 years of service. Carol loved her Lord continuously to the very end. She was a true prayer partner: if you shared a burden with her, there were almost immediate answers, as if she had a direct line to the Lord. Carol loved to sing, praising her Savior, and did so regularly. Carol was overcome by Lewy Body Dementia and Lyme Disease. She will be dearly missed by all of her loved ones.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at 2 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family would like to give special recognition to Tamekia Mathews, for her devoted loving care of Carol during the last chapter of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.
Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, Gardendale, AL.
