Brandon was born in Tallahassee Fl and spent his first 10 years in Jacksonville, FL before moving to Gardendale, AL. Brandon graduated from Gardendale High School in 2011. He completed trade school in the HVAC field in 2018 and later received his Recovery Support Peer Specialist certification in 2021.
Before moving to Texas, he worked in the Plumbing/HVAC/Carpentry field, but his true passion was recognized after he received treatment for addiction in July 2020. The last 2 years of his life were spent dedicated to helping fellow addicts in the Recovery field, improving the lives of others in their darkest hours. He worked at both Ranch House Recovery in Elgin, TX and Alta Loma transformational Recovery Center in Austin, TX. His passion to help others and the genuine way he spoke and listened while also knowing so much about addiction not just from his training, but from living through recovery himself is what made him so special and such an asset to those establishments. . His life will continue to be honored through a scholarship in his name for a young man in need donated by Ranch House Recovery in Elgin, TX.
Brandon is survived by mom, Jenny Whitworth; dad, Tim Whitworth; sister, Carly Childress; Niece Lucy Fines; grandfather (GP), Jim Polk; "Memaw", Debbie Short; aunt, Missy Steward; uncle, Mike Steward; cousins, Mikey Steward, Isaiah Steward and Sarah Steward; aunt, Stacey Waters; uncle, Paul Waters; cousin, Austin Waters; stepbrother, Timmy Whitworth, wife Lindsey Whitworth, nephew, Tripp Whitworth; stepbrother, Tommy Whitworth; stepsister, Melissa Chamblee, husband, Jonathan Chamblee, nephews, Jaxon and Harrison Chamblee. Stepsister, Miranda Robertson and nephew, Easton Robertson; others left to cherish his memory are Kristina McDaniel, Wendy Childress, Nikki Lonergan, Holly Zarski, April Clark, Barbara Rose, Melanie Wharton Rose, Tanya Rose, Justice Rose and Harley Fuller
His passions and hobbies were Recovery mentoring and sponsoring of young men with addiction, fishing, kayaking, skydiving, cooking, watching movies and listening to music, and being with his family and friends. He played most sports when young and loved them all.
He touched so many people's lives in his 29 years and was so very loved. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, grandson, cousin, uncle, friend, and partner. We will miss you, Brandon! If our grief is an example of how much you were loved, then the sky is full, because that Love is so Big.
A visitation for Brandon will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Brandon's memory may be made to a non-profit organization that Brandon would've been passionate about called, Not a Glum Lot. It uses funds, that let men in recovery, who could not otherwise afford the chance to live in quality Sober Living establishments.
