Bobby was preceded in death by his father William Oscar Mann, his mother Ludie Victoria Reid Copeland. His wife Dorothy Lee Lowery Mann. His brothers Earl Mann and General Myrick. His sisters, Estle Walker, Olene Graves and Margaret Dodd.
Bobby is survived by his daughters Barbara Mann Haisten and Tara Mann Holt.
Five grandchildren Bobby James Haisten, Payton Mann Haisten, Austin Lee Haisten, Laura Kate Holt, Hailey Leigh Ann Holt. Eight great grandchildren,
Easton Michael Burden, James David Haisten, Reid Livingston Haisten, Cantey Lee Haisten, Mary Ruth Haisten(Ruthie), Thomas Lee Haisten, Madeline Fox Haisten (Maddie) Lucille Watson Haisten (Lucy). Bobby also had many special nieces and nephews he held close in his heart.
Bobby was a member of Hayden United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years.
Bobby held many accomplishments in his life. In 1954 he lettered Alabama All State Athlete in football. He also helped lead that years team to a All State Championship. Then after high school he married the love of his life Dorothy Lee Lowery. The beginning of their marriage they lived in Birmingham until they were able to purchase land in Blount County. Bobby was in his element with the orchards of apples, and later on peaches, plums, and nectarines.
He also patented a green plum from his orchard that became the Mann Plum.
His business “Mann’s Fruit Stand” stood for many years at the 284 I-65 exit.
Bobby was an avid talker and storyteller. Often you would find him out bending someone’s ear about politics, football, the farm, but especially good tales of the olden days.
Services for Bobby will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 with a time of visitation to begin at 1:00 PM, service at 2:00 PM followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
