Annie Ruth Clem Harman, age 81 of Gardendale passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She served as a church organist and pianist for 65 years, last serving her Lord at Beechwood Baptist Church in Gardendale. She taught piano for over 50 years to many, many children who are now senior church leaders and musicians in the communities and church fellowships where she served. Mrs. Harman also retired from Jefferson County after 30 plus years with the credit union. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, Charles E. Clem, Sr.; a daughter, Susan Clem Cole; parents, Robert B. Harris and Sybil Petty Harris; her brothers, Robert B. Harris, II and Allen K. Harris; and a sister, Sybil Harris Beacham. She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Everette E. Harman, Jr.; sons, Charles E. Clem, Jr. (Darlene), Frank Allen Clem (Cindy); step-son, Richard Harman; step-daughter, Ginger Stagner (Paul); grandchildren, Phillip N. Cole, Angelia I. Joyner, Laura S. Cole, Charles D. Clem, Bradley R. Greer, Brandon K. Greer, and Allyson R. Blue; great grandchildren, Madi Greer, Emily Clem, Andrew Clem, Eliana Clem, Josie Greer, Andy Cole, Anna Cole, Ashlyn Joyner, Ty Joyner, Trenton Cole, and Campbell Blue; other relatives and loved ones, Joyce Brock, Drexel Harman (Jen), Nellie Breeden, Larry Harman (Betty), and Claude Harman.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Pastor Charles D. Clem will officiate. Grandsons and grandson-in-laws will serve as pallbearers, Phillip Cole, Bradley Greer, Brandon Greer, James Blue, Rick Joyner, and Andy Cole.
