Anne C. Holden, age 78 of Birmingham passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Anne was born in Colbert County Hospital in Tuscumbia. She married William Holden when she was only 16 years old and moved to a military base in California, and then to Springfield, MO. They later moved to Detroit for work before relocating to Russellville, AL. In 1960 they moved back to the Birmingham area and raised their family. Anne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rev. William O. Holden; a daughter, Kathy Joan Holden; parents, Dewey and Laura Clounch; brothers, Bill Clounch and Lawrence “Sonny” Clounch. She is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Deborah Fern Holden; her sons, Scott Dean Holden and his wife, Vicki, and Kevin S. Holden and his wife, Michele; grandsons, Scottie Dean Holden II, William Matthew Holden, and William Kevin Holden; sisters, Betty Sue Vaughn Jones and Laura Jean Hallmark.
A visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 10th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 until 7 PM. Mrs. Holden will lie in state at the Jonesboro Baptist Church from 12 noon until service time. Graveside services will follow Friday at 1 PM at Jonesboro Baptist Cemetery in Russellville, AL.
