Alice Houchins Beasley was born at home in Gardendale, Alabama on September 9, 1938. She graduated from Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana. She eventually married and moved back to Gardendale to raise her family. She went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2018 at the age of 80. She was an active member for years at Gardendale First Baptist Church where she had been raised as a child. She worked at Hart-Greer, Mortgage America, and finally at Pineywood Baptist Church. At her death she was a member at Pineywood.
Alice loved to cook for her family and friends and host get-togethers at her home. She was active in all aspects of church life, but especially enjoyed singing in the choir. In her later years her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. They all rejoice now that she is healed and at home with her Lord and Savior.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Evelyn McIntyre and her husband, Charles Beasley.
Alice is survived by her two sons, Richard Houchins (Jane) and Alan Houchins (Ginger); one daughter, Traci Houchins Guinn; seven grandchildren, Bryant Houchins, Kristin Houchins Wirges (Brian), Brent Guinn (Christa Willett), Justin Houchins (Mary), Taylor Houchins, Blake Guinn, and John Mark Houchins; five great grandchildren, Braxton Houchins, Parker Wirges, Hudson Wirges, Dawson Wirges, and Merritt Houchins; her aunt, Lois Martin, who was her best friend, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, November 4th, 2018 with a time of visitation to begin at 1:30pm; funeral service at 3:00pm, followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
