Willie Gene Williams, Jr. (Uncle Willie) was born on May 4th, 1944, in Houston, Texas, to the late Willie Gene Williams Sr. and Esther May Williams. Willie Gene Williams Jr. lived a life marked by dedication, service, and passion. He went home to glory on May 10th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and cherished memories.
Willie was raised in a loving home with four brothers (all living) and four sisters (all deceased). After graduating high school, Willie answered the call to serve his country, proudly joining the Marine Corps in 1966, receiving an honorable discharge as a Sgt. in 1968. After serving in the military, Willie was employed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority devoting 26 years of his life as a bus driver touching the lives of countless passengers with his kindness, professionalism and unwavering dedication to his job.
Willie was an active community member in the city of Lynwood, serving on several committees, such as the veteran affairs commission and the senior building committee. He was instrumental in the creation of the Lynwood Senior Center. Willie had many loves in life including his deep passion for cooking, fishing and reading. His kitchen was always filled with the delicious aroma of his soulful culinary creations.
Willie was a believer in Jesus Christ, trusting Him as his Lord and Savior and was faithful to his beliefs and the inerrancy of the Word of God. He was a loving, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family and took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. He had numerous family & friends with whom he truly enjoyed sharing life and whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his beloved family members, Rebecca Allen, children: Angel Hull, Marc Jackson (Nathalie), Derek King, Michael Allen (deceased), grandchildren: Anthony Hull (Porsha), Adrian Hull (Jackie), Asia Hull, Abigail Jackson, Karrianna King, and Kyree King, siblings: Joseph Williams (Sheila), Doyle Williams (Earnestine), Darrell Williams, Albert Gordon as well as cherished loved ones Winifred Jackson, Jeanne Mims, Jackie Wells, and Reggie Hall. He also leaves behind a host of adored great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, other loved ones, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Willie Gene Williams, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of unwavering love, faith, compassion, support, community and service will continue to inspire for generations to come.
