William Eggleston was born in Worthington, Minnesota on the 5th of May, 1927; youngest son of Lee and Clara (Christainson) Eggleston. He moved to California in 1928 with this family.
He grew up in East Los Angeles and Montebello and graduated from Whittier Union High School in 1945 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served in Guam aboard the LSM465. When the war ended, he returned to Whittier.
He married his first wife Carol Jean Phillips in 1947. They had four children: Christopher, Ellen, Glen, and Kay. They were divorced in 1984 and Carol passed away in 1999.
Bill married Donna Lee Richards in 1984 shortly after he retired from Pacific Telephone after 36-years of employment. They resided in Costa Mesa, California until 1987 when they moved to New Meadows, Idaho where they built a home on the golf course at Meadow Creek Golf & Field Club. Bill was an avid golfer and for many years he assembled custom golf clubs.
He is survived by his wife Donna; his children Ellen, Glen, and Kay; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
